In February 2012, the group signed with Roadrunner Records and in May that year released their debut album Neverbloom. Only through this fact does the line "If you take my hand, I'll show you the world of the dead" make sense. They self-released their debut EP, Lord of Woe, on 27 September 2010.

because if she's a widow, and i'm a widower, and we're together, then we both must be dead. For those unaware a widower is a husband who has lost his wife (duh), so why didn't I call it "Widow". Fun fact - the girl of the story is a "widow" and the song is called "widower". The song is about girls with little self respect who feel the need to sleep around because it gives them temporary comfort or relief from sadness/depression. If the key itself wasn't obvious enough, this line sums up the song perfectly "day by day the nights swallowed the sun, and with every night the more you gave, your sadness came undone". Sharing stories - letting down you guard and showing your insecurities Personally for me it's certainly one of the more comprehendible songs on the album, for this reason I'll keep it reasonably short. A lot of people have absolutely no idea what the heck I'm on about. Some people seem to understand it very easily. Widower is more of a stand-alone track, it ties in with the entirety of the concept quite loosely.

Song MeaningSource: /notes/make-them-suffer/song-meaningsconcept/… I'll never forget how the forests wept, when you gave yourself away. I hate sad stories, they always end the same. Sharing stories with the world until piece by piece, you gave your heart away. I'll always remember you as the tell-tale spider, when darkness crept into our days. I fell for your bleeding crimson eyes, just so you know, Just keep smiling into the night, my beautiful bride. In my dreams, you wept blood from your eyes. Every night you died with a smile on your face. I don't like your stories anymore, they always end so fucking sad. Sharing your stories with moon and the trees, with a world which strung you along. We're tell-tale spiders, spinning webs and singing songs. I'm not the answer, but if you take my hand I'll show you the world of the dead. You're just a fucking widow, weaving webs among the woods. I only hope that you remember me as the one from the trees, when the forests used to sing, instead of when I locked myself in the heart of the wood and threw away the key.

You just keep slipping through the cracks of my fingertips. A gift to cherish, until piece by piece, you were laid before the roots of time.ĭay by day, the nights swallow the sun, and with every night the more you gave, your sadness came undone. Will you remember me as the one from the trees, when the forests used to sing,or when I locked myself in the heart of the wood and threw away the key? You just kept giving yourself away.
